Hi friends, my husband and I recently returned from an amazing two week trip to Japan which was a really big item on our bucket list since both of us are Japanese American. There were some challenges (not being able to speak/read the language, jet lag, missing Mexican and Italian food) but overall we had the best time and made so many memories.
We visited Okinawa, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Tokyo and fell so in love with all the beauty, history, cleanliness and efficiency that Japan has to offer. We rode the bullet train, spent a day at Tokyo Disney sea, attended a Geisha performance, went to a baseball game at Tokyo Dome, experienced the Hiroshima Peace Museum, were awed by live whale sharks at the aquarium in Okinawa and walked anywhere from 3-10 miles per day.
And don’t even get me started on the food. The food was amazing. One of the highlights of our trip was popping into this little hole-in-the-wall udon shop that was so tiny it only had room for 6 barstools. It was a one-man show and the chef/owner made our udon and tempura fresh right in front of us at the counter. It was out of this world.
As wonderful as it was to experience Japan, it’s still always nice to be home. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to visit such an amazing country.
