Over the weekend the family gathered to celebrate my husband’s 63rd birthday. After a delicious dinner, we came home to enjoy some homemade dessert because honestly, you can’t have a birthday dinner without a birthday dessert, right?
Here’s something you should know about our family: we love dessert. Cake, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, breads, candy, chocolate. We firmly believe that each meal should be rounded out with a delicious, sweet, melt-in-your mouth morsel. I’m sure you agree!
One of our “go to” desserts is a butterscotch pound cake that Kristy first introduced to us a few years back. It’s a pretty simple, straight forward recipe involving a boxed cake mix but the end product is so moist and delicious that it’s always a treat and it’s one of the cakes that my husband loves best. You can find the recipe here.
So this afternoon, we donned our aprons and set to work making a special treat for the man who has been such a special part of all of our lives.
Here’s the delicious butterscotch pound cake straight out of the oven:
And here’s the finished product that we’re ready to pack up and transport from Kristy’s house over to my house for the family to share for dessert:
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
